In the not so distant past of 2015 Navy Federal, the world's largest credit union began pushing towards the goal of acquiring 10,000 employees at it’s Pensacola campus, located on Beulah Road, by the year 2026. Here we are in 2020, and Navy Federal is well ahead of schedule. The process began with the addition of over 2 million square feet of space, an addition which would support their bustling workforce and make Pensacola an attractive destination for career-minded individuals.

The creation and expansion of the Navy Federal campus is a decision which will yield positive results for Pensacola. Working for such an economic juggernaut is an attractive prospect for locals and college graduates. The wide array of jobs on offer provide a little something for everybody, from entry level positions to executive leadership the jobs on offer are helping to retain young professionals. In the past young adults looking to kick start their careers would relocate to areas with burgeoning job sectors, but thanks to the creation of jobs catalyzed by the expansion of the Navy Federal campus, young adults looking to begin a career are choosing to stay in Pensacola which results in a reinvigoration of their communities.

However, not all deeds are credit worthy. The Navy Federal campus is located along a stretch of road that is in the heart of a construction heavy area, 9-Mile Road. This stretch of 9-Mile Road has always dealt with heavy traffic due to numerous construction projects and a lack of extra lanes, but with the addition of jobs comes an influx of commuters who have compounded the problem. Recently lawmakers have been working through a plan to alleviate the traffic, but many locals are growing frustrated with the lack of progress; however, work may be finished sooner than later, for the Florida Department of Transportation has the estimated completion time set for Winter 2021.
